Obituary for John Bryant Marcum Sr.

John Bryant Marcum Sr., 69, of Berea, passed away at his home Wednesday, December 21, 2016, after a long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
J.B. was born in Berea to the late Rollie and Grace Short Marcum. He retired from the Madison County Board of Education after 22 years, and currently served as Constable for Madison County, 1st District for the past 42 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Kentucky Constable Association.
J.B. is survived by his wife Patricia Reed Marcum, two children John “Bryant” (Kayla) Marcum Jr. and Kristie Marcum; one brother Jerry Marcum; four nieces and nephews Teresa Rose, Debbie Brooks, Junior Dees and Josh Marcum; he also left behind his beloved boxer, Trooper. Numerous cousins, extended family and friends, who he loved deeply, also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Shirley Marcum Dees and his beloved dog Roc.
Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Davis, Rev. Randy McPheron and Rev. Mark Sarver officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Monday, December 26, 2016 at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Darnell Martin, Jason Kirby, Billy Beavers, Randy Hensley, Bryant Marcum and Brent Bradley. Honorary bearers will be Richie Harold, Mike Lee, Roger Dale Wolfe, Mike Reed and Josh Marcum.
