Maudie  Neeley (McHone)
Maudie Neeley, 83, quietly departed this life on September 3, 2016 at her loving home, surrounded by her family, after a battle with cancer. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by so many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all that knew her.
Maudie was born on May 7, 1933 in Berea, KY, to the late John and Etta Marcum McHone, but was raised by her half-sister, Tilda. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, William David Neeley, Jr. (Jack); a son, James Boyd Neeley; a daughter, Crystal; two brothers, Russell and Robert McHone; and five sisters: Flora McHone, Nora VanWinkle, Dora Durham, Lucy Botkin, and Tilda McHone. Surviving are their children: Jackie (The Late Paul) Hamilton, Paula (Lanny) Kidwell, Rebecca Seals, Rosie (Jimmy) Hoefer, Carolyn (Jeff) Baugh, Robbie Johnson, Laura, and Nikki; all of Berea, KY. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Maudie also fostered several dozen children that she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Jon Burdette and Bro James Chrisman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be: Chris Causey, Brent Causey, Brandon Seals, Aaron Baugh, Josh Cope, Jordan Chasteen, and Caleb Dickerson.
