Larry James Smith age 69, husband of Judy Hatfield Smith, died Thursday Aug. 10, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Larry was retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot; he was Chief of Ammunitions Division. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church; he had an extreme love of cars, Nascar and UK Basketball. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Vivian and Radie Johnson Smith, and his sisters: Nina Faye Smith and Norma Bowling.
Larry is survived by his wife Judy Hatfield Smith, his children: Todd (Ashley Payne) Smith, Monica (Chris) Bucher, Jennifer Smith Allen, and Dale Smith, his grandchildren: Justen (Samantha) Smith, Darica (Ryan) Coates, Kelly Smith, Danielle Chasteen, Lauren Marshall, Ty Allen, Jameson Smith, and Trent Allen, and two great grandchildren: Easton Coates, and Noah Cole Alexander, his father-in-law Raymond Hatfield, and sister-in-law Rita (Mike Lake) Roberts.
Funeral services for Larry will be Monday Aug. 14, 2017 at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Ballinger and Rev. Walter Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery, pallbearers will be Ronnie Bowman, Earl Brockman, David Carpenter, Shane Colston, Mike Flynn, Nick Erwin, James Kelley, and Billy Seals.
