Bobby Gene Cox, 80, of Harrison Court in Berea, passed away Monday at St. Joseph Berea Hospital.
Bobby was born in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Fred Owen Cox and Macie Frith Cox Wade. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Boy Scouts for 28 years where he achieved Silver Beaver Scout Master. He retired from the local Shelter Insurance office that he ran for many years.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother Paul Wade.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Thomas Cox; nine children Fred (Kathy) Cox, Mark (Sue) Cox, Jeanie (Donnie) Willis, Lisa (Bobby) Hunt, Becky (Williem) Venter, Regina (Warren) Heckman, Roger Cox, Rex Cox, and Ashley (Aaron) Owens; four siblings Steve (Mary) Wade, John (Bonnie) Wade, Mary Isaacs and Dorothy Wade; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Willis, Kimberly Willis, Greg Cox, Matt Cox, Nicholas Heckman, Emma Heckman, Alicia Venter, Thomas Venter, Brandon (April) Abney, and Eric Lawons; 5 great grandchildren, Anniston Kate Owens, Bristol Abney, Andrew Abney, Logan Lawson, and Lindsay Lawson, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Donnie Willis, Aaron Owens, Will Venter, Warren Heckman, Bobby Hunt and Dan Chapin. Honorary bearers will be Winkie Holt and the grandchildren.
