Obituary for Steven Kelley Parks
Steven Kelley Parks, age 61, of Berea, KY died May 17, 2017 at UK Chandler hospital in Lexington after a short illness. Preceded in death by his father, Albert B. Parks, he is survived by his mother, Hattie H. Parks, brothers Bill (Cathy Carlson) Parks and Tom Parks, sisters Shirley (Howard) Carlberg and Susan (Bill) Somerville, nephews Dana and Bryce Carlberg, and nieces Rhianna Parks and Nell Somerville.
A lifelong resident of Maryland, Steve moved to Berea in 2015 to be near family here. He worked with computers almost his entire career, building his first one in his 20s from spare parts and a cardboard box. He loved music, especially drums and pipe organs, science and science fiction, and the Three Stooges.
Memorial services will be held at Union Church, 200 Prospect St., at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Condolences, pictures and stories about Steve may be made at www.lakesfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union Church Organ fund, CPO 2105, Berea, KY 40404, or www.union-church.org/donate.
